Buckethead poetry – Soothsayer
Given the dedication of this song to Buckethead’s Aunt Suzie (Susie), it was difficult for me to get the words right. Although expressing emotions in words is usually pretty easy for me to do, I wanted to be sure that I captured the emotion in this song because it is very emotional – well, it comes across that way to me. I can see how many Buckethead fans see this song as an ‘anthem’ of sorts, but to me it goes beyond the music… it reaches out to the soul.
With that in mind, here is my literary rendition of Soothsayer and the very first YouTube video clip I ever saw of Buckethead playing it live (and it was also the very first time I had ever heard Buckethead). My thanks to Pete’s Bloodyhand for introducing me to the visual and aural wonder of Buckethead through his awesome YouTube channel.
Soothsayer
Calming me to the point
Of nothingness
Your smile, your warmth
Washes over me
As I lay my head down to rest
I know that there is nothing better
As I lay my heart in your hands
There is nothing better
Take me Soothsayer
Take me away…
When a river of tears
Flows from my soul
Effortlessly, you know the way
With your guidance and wisdom
You are the goddess
To whom I pray
All the shadows
All the darkness
Little by little
It all slowly ebbs away
There is nothing better
Take me Soothsayer
Take me away…
