The words to ‘General Butterfly’
After having discovered ‘I Need Five Minutes Alone’ yesterday, I’ve been listening to the songs via Youtube. And then I listened to ‘General Butterfly’ another song with Buckethead talking on it.
It blew me away.
Here are the words as I heard them – they could be wrong, I haven’t checked anywhere else and only listened a couple of times so feel free to correct me
These words are so sad… and so profound.
‘General Butterfly’
Times’ gone by
But the sadness hasn’t
Everyone said it would go away
But it hasn’t
I heard your voice on the answering machine
Feels like it’s never gonna leave
Like when you told me about the butterfly
And how it would fly away
I didnt know you were gonna go
You said that the butterfly would come back
But it hasn’t
Remember when you told me about the mermaid?
How lots of people put cigarettes out on her…
But she was the most beautiful woman in the universe
I know that maybe that was you
And I didnt take care of it
I’m sorry I just… don’t know how
But maybe one day I will
And maybe then you’ll know
That we should be

I love your website!
the most personal song of buckethead i’ve ever listened, i hope he will release more epic songs like this (although i don’t believe he will be doing anything like this again)!
greetings from austria!
Thank-you very much for the kind words! Wow, a fan from Austria! Awesome, I guess one of the reasons for starting this website in the first place is paying off and bringing fans of Buckethead from all over the world to one place
Thank-you for coming to the site and for commenting
